Jorge Méndez Blake presents an individual exhibition titled Topographic Transferrals from the Biblioteca Nacional, curated by Amanda de la Garza & Alejandra Labastida, at MUAC, UNAM, Mexico D.F., Mexico. From May 23 to September 20, 2015.

Jose Dávila will present a site-specific series of sculptures that deal with the notion of the never-ending struggle against gravity. Fueled by his interest in architecture, minimalism and history of art, the sculptures show a moment of suspension that makes possible to appreciate the politics of equilibrium.
Emerging from an interest about a physical phenomenon, Dávila keeps free-fall in tension in order to rescue the aesthetic qualities of structural engineering. For this project, the artist challenges the functionalist appreciation of physics to ponder the structure as an artistic composition.
Alongside the sculptural work, Dávila will intervene a series of images he carefully chose and extracted from the library found at the studio, which is the former house of Dr. René Vallejo, a well-known physician in Havana.
